Welcome! I’m Ebonye Gussine Wilkins.

I’m an editorial leader and advisor helping editors and institutions navigate complexity with clarity, responsibility, and care.

For more than a decade, I’ve worked with publishers, corporations, nonprofits, and government agencies to strengthen editorial standards and support inclusive, accessible content, without sacrificing accuracy, rigor, or voice. My work helps move editorial practice beyond checklists and rigid rules and toward informed judgment grounded in cultural humility and real-world context.

I’m the creator of signature frameworks that guide this work:

  • NUANCE™, a guide to making thoughtful, context-aware editorial decisions
  • EQUITY™, a practical approach to embedding accessibility and inclusion from the first draft to the final pass
  • AWARE™, a strategy for approaching sensitivity reads for nonfiction with care

At the core of my approach is the belief that editors are stewards of meaning. Their decisions shape how information is understood, who feels represented, and what knowledge is carried forward. Through my work, I help editors and editorial teams:

  • Develop flexible editorial judgment that adapts to complexity.
  • Shift from cultural competence to cultural humility as an ongoing practice.
  • Integrate accessibility as a core editorial skill, not an afterthought.
  • Apply inclusive standards consistently across projects, teams, and institutions.

I work with editors, publishers, and organizations who care deeply about the ethics of their work and the long-term impact of their content. I work with those who want practical, actionable guidance they can apply immediately.

If that resonates, I welcome the conversation.
